James "Marshall" Sitting Eagle is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. His spiritual name is "Sitting Eagle." Most of his young life was influenced by his Lakota elders, who taught him many of his artistic techniques. He firmly believes that the Lakota were and are artists with each day- telling an individual story and way of life.
